Results of the Beta Research Corporation show that the important factors considered in purchasing periodicals are the magazine's circulation vitality, volume of advertisements, competitive position in the industry and length of existence. Editorial quality was cited by advertiser and ad agency respondents as a 'very' or 'somewhat' important factor in media buying decisions. Publications with the weakest editorial product were most likely to negotiate advertising rates, according to 53.9% of agency respondents.

ISDN offers a maximum of 128 Kbps of connection, a rate which is 10 times the speed of a 14.4 modem.
