New inroads to US markets
Article Abstract:
US and United Kingdom settlement systems have agreed to cut the costs of buying stocks from abroad. The Depository Trust Company and Crest propose allowing UK investors to pay using pound sterling, and have dividends pais in pounds, using wholesale rates of exchange. This could allow smaller investors from the UK better access to US markets, though further details of the proposal have yet to be released. UK stocks could benefit from greater liquidity by attracting more US investors.
