New media/new design
Article Abstract:
Designers are often added as afterthoughts to the product development teams of manufacturers. However, good design results from the integration of design input from the earliest stages of the process. Unfortunately, the design aspect of product development becomes buried in the preoccupation with technical details. This is true not only for real products but also virtual ones, such as computer software. Although manufacturers and product engineers should accept the importance of professional design input, the designers themselves should take every opportunity available to drive this point home.

What will the virtual office of the future look like?
Article Abstract:
Furniture design requires an eye for both aesthetic and functional value. However, technological innovation in office equipment has outpaced the development of designs suited for the dramatically changing work environment. Manufacturers often fail to come up with styles suited to a job's requirements. It is imperative that industry designers keep track and anticipate changes in the workplace by following technological developments in order to remain competitive.
