The financing of less developed countries through banks in developed countries has been affected by the recent world-wide recession. Less developed countries face risk through the volatility of repayment requirements. Loans should be structured toward enterprise specific financing. Foreign fund suppliers should be given some power to effect good management practices.

Bank Lending to Third World Countries in the 1980s
Article Abstract:
The recession of 1981-1982 has caused increased international debt problems. Developing countries are faced with lower income causing failure to meet debt repayment schedules. Cooperation among involved governments and banks is needed to improve everyone's awareness of the problems that actually exist. Liquidity is often the real problem and not solvency.

Internal lending to less developed countries is seen as a means for wealth redistribution among nations. Risks are in proportion to the commitments of the lending country. Lending policy is generally attributable to the political climate affecting government policy.
