Shiro Kuramata: a design poet appraised
Article Abstract:
The works of Japanese industrial designer Shiro Kuramata reflects his quiet autonomy, gentle but firm departure from trendy and traditional design and architecture. He often integrated extremes of unnegotiable concepts such as transparency and solidity into objects which exhibit unyielding tensions. He seems to question man's way of life by shocking the viewer with his subverted interpretations of traditional object forms and functions.

Design & Style #7: The Bauhaus
Article Abstract:
The book 'Design & Style #7: The Bauhaus' won a gold award in the graphics category of the 1992 I.D. Annual Design review. The design was praised for following an academic approach, lending a restraint to the presentation of the subject matter. The choice of images and the flow of the succession of spreads were also well executed. Overall, the effect was one of retrained inventiveness.
