The linkage between pesticide use and pesticide residues
Article Abstract:
Regulatory agencies can minimize the dietary intake of pesticides while avoiding disruptions in food production with the proper understanding of the connection between pesticide use and pesticide residues in the food supply. It was shown that pesticide residues come from pesticide use on farms, use during harvesting, use on imported food and from canceled pesticides that remain in the environment. The development of alternative pest-control measures can benefit from the proper utilization of these information.

Inoculative release of anecic earthworms in a California orchard
Article Abstract:
The inoculative release of anecic earthworms is beneficial to organic or low input orchards where anecic earthworms are absent or where there is minimal soil cultivation. Anecic earthworms form stable macropores that benefit crops because they increase the availability of surface nutrients contained in organic materials to the crop. The earthworms also incorporate litter and in the process, may reduce inoculum levels of certain plant pathogens such as one that causes fruit rot.
