OPD heralds a new kind of living

The One Per Desk (OPD) computer workstation from International Computers Ltd. (ICL) has computing and communications capabilities that are sophisticated enough to meet most general office processing needs. OPD comes with a color screen and printer, and the software package for the workstation includes word processing, graphics, database management and spreadsheet programs. OPD can receive and answer incoming telephone calls, and hold several hundred telephone numbers in its memory. An optional electronic mail program, Message, can be added for an extra 80 pounds sterling. The OPD with color monitor and software costs 1,500 pounds sterling, and the printer is an additional 395 pounds sterling. The workstation is highly recommended for general office use, but may not be suitable for specialized applications.

Craigmore-4GL is a fourth generation computer language that can be used to develop applications programs on a microcomputer. Craigmore-4GL is used with the MS-DOS operating system and requires a hard disk. The package combines programming with analysis and design in a single iterative process. Craigmore-4GL integrates hierarchical and tabular database systems. The program consists of a screen design utility, a data dictionary for creating a hierarchical database, a spreadsheet programming function, and facilities for creating sequential ASCII and binary files. Craigmore is a powerful but complex program, and only experienced programmers will be able to fully exploit the program's potential uses. The license for Craigmore-4GL for one machine is 1,500 pounds sterling.
