U.S. could cut DOD by half -- analyst
Article Abstract:
United States could cut its regular military budget almost in half and still be able to meet the country's defense needs according to a study. Charles Pena, director of defense policy studies at the Cato Institute, stated that the basis for this argument is the idea that U.S. allies need to shoulder a greater part of their own defense burden, allowing the U.S. to move toward a "balancer-of-last-resort strategy".
