Observational assessment of situation awareness, team differences and training implications
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to investigate the practicability and reliability of observational assessment of team situation awareness (SA), and the nature of any team differences, their consistency and training implications. A total of 75 incidents and 20 behavioral dimensions relevant to SA were identified and these were subsumed under planning, problem solving, team coordination, attention, communication, and knowledge, and these findings are discussed with regard to the nature and measurement of SA, and the content of training to improve SA for control room teams.

Supporting command and control training functions in the emergency management domain using cognitive systems engineering
Article Abstract:
The design and implementation of MERMAIDS, a computer-based training system in the domain of emergency command and control, is presented. A decision-centric human-computer interface is proposed as a new method of supporting command-based modelling in the domain of emergency systems.
