Health Images encouraged by ban on MD self-referrals
Article Abstract:
Health Images Inc (HIMG) is the leading provider of fixed-site outpatient magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) centers in the US. It is the only company that manufactures and services its own MRI equipment. In its 1991 annual report, HIMG posted outstanding growth. Net income increased by 95.6% to $5.9 million while cash flow rose 57.6% to $15.5 million. Total revenues went up by 29.2% while same center revenues increased to 9.3%. Debts went down 45%, to the lowest level since l987. A recent legislative act banning doctors from referring patients to self-owned like ventures will further boost HIMG's profit.

'Top-down' design leadership boosts Synopsys' bottom line
Article Abstract:
There is growing interest in the shares of high level design automation (HLDA) pioneer Synopsys Inc. With its leadership in HLDA technology, analysts feel that investing in Synopsys' shares at 23 1/4 points could prove to be veryrewarding. The complexity of integrated circuit and electronic system design and the ability of HLDA software to lower product development time are two factors responsible for continued interest in HLDA. The advantage of Synopsys in HLDA technology should be sustained through a marketing and distribution strategy aimed at end users and product vendors.
