Outsourcing on the increase
Article Abstract:
An increasing number of British companies are turning to facilities management, also referred to as outsourcing, in order to do away with the high cost of running a computer services function. The obvious financial benefits for companies include savings on equipment and manpower costs. Agreements between companies and service providers can be flexible and tailored to the needs of the company, leaving it free to concentrate on its core business. Despite the many benefits outsourcing can offer, some companies are still reluctant to adopt this practice, mainly because of the fear of losing control over their computer systems which can be an important competitive resource.
