Over-hyped, overpaid and over here
Article Abstract:
Foreign executives are increasingly common in UK companies, especially from the US. They include Bob Seelert from Cordiant, and Anne Iverson from Laura Ashley. Imported executives may not perform any differently from UK executives, but they tend to be paid more, especially since US salaries tend to be higher. The biggest US companies pay an average of three times more money to their executives than companies in the UK. The UK may become less attractive to foreign executives as more attention is focused on executive pay.

Article Abstract:
Share options have provided a profit of a minimum 15 million pounds sterling for 49 UK directors from the major 25 companies in addition to heads of privatised utilities, in the three years to 1995. An additional 22 million profit is awaiting these directors. These figures have had to be estimated for some companies since some half do not disclose information to shareholders on the amount individual directors can make from share options.
