Edinburgh investors under the cosh
Article Abstract:
Most of the investment trusts and unit trusts of Edinburgh Fund Managers (EFM) have underperformed and there is speculation that EFM could be a bid target. EFM will dismantle British Investment Trust (BIT) which has the Coal Board Pension Fund as its majority shareholder. BIT also holds a large stake in EFM and EFM will be able to carry out a share buyback following the dismantling of BIT. Investors in other EFM funds should leave if BIT investors decide on a large-scale exodus.
