Photo processors and OSHA inspections
Article Abstract:
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) can inspect a photo processor for safety violations as a result of an employee complaint. A photo processor can minimize the risk of an OSHA inspection by complying with the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 and its regulations and by resolving employee complaints immediately. If inspected, a photo processor should cooperate with the inspector, correct any violations during the inspection and contest any citations deemed to be incorrect.

Personal protective equipment hazard assessment
Article Abstract:
The personal protective equipment (PPE) required in photo labs are determined by their working conditions. This means specific hazards in photo labs must first be assessed and measures for controlling these hazards must be put in place. Photo labs must also certify in writing that they have done a hazards assessment before their workers can use any PPE. The typical hazards in photo shops include chemical exposure; falling objects; electrical hazards and slip, trip and fall hazards.

Entrepreneur to franchisee - giving up independence to gain significantly
Article Abstract:
Moto Photo Inc's franchises are able to take advantage of the company's strength in vital areas such as marketing and promotion. This is attested to by franchisees such as Sid Davidowitz, a former independent who established ExpressLab in 1982 but decided to become a franchise in 1984. Davidowitz, who continues to operate his Moto Photo franchise in Paramus, NJ, credits the company's store operating system and marketing clout for much of his success.
