Pockets of insider buying
Article Abstract:
The last months' insider trading has been on the low stock and spotting reliable sector trends has been difficult. However, buying concentrations in three sectors have developed and are being closely monitored. In the retail trade, some executives are accumulating stocks in the apparel industry. Worth watching are Mother's Work, United Retail Group Inc. and Catherine's Store. In the restaurant industry, the Darden Restaurant, Cracker Barrel Old Country and Ruby Tuesday's. Meanwhile, smaller specialty steel companies, such as Lukens Inc., and Wierton Steel gained the attention of insiders.

The state of the tides
Article Abstract:
The performance of stock trading and the economy as a whole are significantly related to the dollar's performance in foreign exchange markets. The trend shows a depreciation in value relative to other currencies as a result of a mix of socio-politico-economic factors. The prospect for a bright stock market environment in 1995 hinges on both the quality and quantity of insider trading and the ability of the dollar to recover so that investments and liquidity will respond favorably.

Insiders looking great but...
Article Abstract:
Insider traders have demonstrated an unprecedented enthusiasm in investing in late 1994. They have also managed to keep the sales of stocks at a minimum. This situation bodes well for 1995 but for the instability of the dollar. The currency problem has to be tackled because any new tendency towards devaluation would unfavorably affect interest rates and stock market activity. The resulting instability would erase any advantages that have been generated previously.
