Powerhouse offer
Article Abstract:
Murphys Capital Corp, previously known as Centra Capital Corp, has made an offer for Powerhouse Resources. The offer has been made to 2,000 Powerhouse stockholders in the United Kingdom. Mark Chapman, a Powerhouse director, is concerned that a recommendation could lead to legal action from Powerhouse stockholders in the US. Powerhouse is developing power stations in China but has no operational power station and the company's value will not increase until this can be remedied.

Gas will be 'bedrock fuel.'(Ghana places more importance on gas in energy policy)
Article Abstract:
Ghana is placing more emphasis on gas in its energy policy. Lake Volta supplies hydroelectric power but will only produce half Ghana's forecast needs six to seven years from 1996. A gas link is being set up with Nigeria and gas is also imported from the Cote d'Ivoire. The Volta River Authority (VRA) produces electricity and is also involved in water transportation. Gas turbine plants are seen as an economic way of producing electricity as are oil fired plants.
