Pre-wrapped bonds
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom corporate bond personal equity plans (Peps) can invest in a variety of instruments including preference stocks and convertible stocks. Risks can be reduced by using managed funds and risks are affected by the type of investments made by funds. Bond yields tend to appear more unattractive as interest rates rise. Long-dated bonds can increase risk, and capital losses can occur when equity prices fall, if funds include preference and convertible stocks.

Offshore - tax haven or hiding to nothing?
Article Abstract:
Offshore investments can allow United Kingdom investors to defer tax payments which is useful if they are likely to drop to a lower tax bracket. There is also a wider range of investment vehicles offshore than can be found in the UK. Not all investors can benefit from investing offshore and there may be no particular benefit from investing prior to the Mar 1998 Budget. Charges for offshore funds tend to be higher. There may also not be a compensation safety net.
