Prediction of business failure: a funds flow approach
Article Abstract:
The collapse of US industrial companies is predicted by evaluating the usefulness of financial ratios obtained from working capital-based funds flow information. Capital-based funds ratios are better indicators of business collapse as they are less unpredictable than cash-based funds flow ratios. The study utilized a statistical procedure founded on a stepwise logit method.

Corporate distress prediction: a comparison of the classification power of a neural network and a multiple discriminant analysis model
Article Abstract:
A neural network (NN) and a multiple discriminant analysis model (MDA) have similar accuracy, less than 70 percent, in classifying the health of a firm over time. The NN model was shown to classify more firms in distress and a year before failure, and was slightly more accurate than the MDA model. The NN model was also less accurate in identifying healthy firms.

Artificial neural network-based assessment of residential real estate property prices: a case study
Article Abstract:
Artificial neural network-based methods show promise as an alternative method for evaluating real estate property prices. Only 16 pieces of data were necessary to determine price. The artificial neural network is relatively easy to construct and its application is practical for property tax assessors, estate valuers and those buying or selling property.
