Preparing partnership returns on your PC: which package should you choose?
Article Abstract:
New PC software packages combined with a laser printer provide accountants with the ability to process returns without resorting to contracting out for batch processing. Computer Language Research's impressive GoSystem runs entirely on a microcomputer and is well designed, user-friendly, and runs well on networks. The program has the ability to transfer figures from many different general ledgers, but suffers from a lack of user literature. Chipsoft Inc's TuboTax 1065 uses 512,000 bytes of storage and can be run on either floppy or hard disk. The program offers very professional results and is a viable alternative to batch processing but is best suited to small- and medium-sized firm representing small firms. MicroVision's Tax Relief 1065 is a scaled down software package that nearly encompasses the full spectrum of preparation. The program requires 500K for storage and while a hard disk is preferable it will run on a 720K floppy. The program prepares Form 1065 and supporting schedules, and is good for relatively uncomplicated transactions effective. AJV Computerized Data Management Inc's Tax$imple uses a user-friendly, interactive menu-driven program and is good for a small firm or single practitioner. The program is simple to use, and scheduled revisions will boost its power. Creative Solution's 1065 Solution is a stand-alone program that can be used with the company's Write-Up Solution, giving it the ability to automatically transfer data from the write-up to the tax return. The program doesn't provide state forms but is a powerful, all-inclusive program that can be mastered quickly.

While scantily clad models are often used in advertisements in the US, the Iggesund advertisement stood out by pointing out that its paper can be used for exotic purposes. Using Stock Options in the Benefit Package
Article Abstract:
The Economic Recovery Tax Act (ERTA) of 1981 provides for a qualified stock option plan, incentive stock options (ISO). This fringe benefit differs from other option plans in that it is not subject to income tax until the employee sells; then it is taxed at the lower capital gains rate. There are other differences, too, and they are explained. The requirements for setting up an ISO plan are explained, with an example of how it works. The advantages and limitations are pointed out.
