Protection for the three Ps
Article Abstract:
A company's insurance portfolio must always provide adequate coverage for the three most important elements of an organizations: its people, its premises and its products. The sheer variety of business insurance products available in the market makes its adviseable for firms to seek the advise of insurance professionals as to the best policies. Some of the new types of business insurance include the business interruption policy to cover losses when a computer is seriously damaged, the keyman insurance policy to protect the firm from losses when a key official dies or is taken ill, and the malicious tamper policy to cover all costs resulting from spiteful tampering with products or equipment. Firms that find it too cumbersome to take out different policies may opt for a 'combined' policy which includes public liability, employers' liability, fire, theft and other office cover.

Data protection: don't get caught out
Article Abstract:
Billing authorities should take the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1984 into account when preparing to implement the council tax to avoid any breaches of the Act. Since much of the information that billing authorities will gather will concern living individuals and be capable of being automatically processed, it will be covered by the Act. To avoid breaching the Act, billing authorities should ensure that fair means are used to gather the minimum amount of relevant personal information and that the individuals concerned are aware of what the data will be used for.
