Quest for Baldrige reshapes CRI
Article Abstract:
Custom Research Inc. (CRI) finally won the Malcolm Baldrige Award in Oct. 1996. The marketing researcher became the first professional service firm ever to win the honor and the smallest company ever to receive the award. CRI did not use the award as a tool to snare new clients. In fact, it trimmed down its pool of clients and retained only those willing to maintain a long-term relationship with the company. This strategy has paid off significantly for the company.

Voicemail hurts survey response rates
Article Abstract:
Marketing research professionals have observed that response rates to surveys are declining primarily because of voicemail and the increasing number of single-parent and single-person households which are much less generous with their time. Poor survey response rates result in response biases which skew results. An industry professional noted that the perceived value of research is rather poor and response biases requires further study.
