Reflections on the quest for international cooperation
Article Abstract:
Political changes resulting from the collapse of communism and the end of the cold war has brought immense speculation regarding international cooperation in space. In addition, although the US remains the undisputed leader in space exploration technology, other nations' space programs are beginning to reach similar capabilities. If international cooperation is to be realized, no single nation must install itself as the leader. Instead, each participant can take charge of specific projects.

Is it time to create a World Space Agency?
Article Abstract:
The former USSR had suggested an idea for the creation of a World Space Agency, under the auspices of the United Nations, in the mid-1980's, but the political climate then did not prove conducive to its implementation. However, it is widely acknowledged that a world body must control space activities and monitor operational costs and the number of participants. The world body should consider the aims and objectives of the entire space community before formulating space laws.

Thoughts on international space cooperation and interests in the post-Cold War world
Article Abstract:
The end of the cold war has resulted in many positive developments, among which is the increased feasibility of international cooperation in space. However, the former military rivalry has been replaced by fierce economic competition, and this can be a significant limiting factor in the formulation of future US space policy. Although cooperation in space is commonly viewed as a necessity, economic competition can hinder future efforts to this end.
