Report faults Stryker vehicles as not meeting Army needs
Article Abstract:
A Washington think tank reports that the medium armored vehicle, Stryker, is still too heavy for the ubiquitous C-130 transport plane to carry, and rolls off the plane needing protective elements to be attached to it, which is again a time-consuming process that delays its entry to battle. The Stryker is not the final solution to the Army's requirement of the medium armor vehicles and for the problem of strategic mobility with survivability.

Transformation of forces and platforms yields to 'shaping'
Article Abstract:
The term 'shaping' has varied definitions and it might be used when the US military forces and hardware are to be replaced with new, smaller, cheaper weapons systems, while buying fewer major systems. Army officials state that shaping must be a process geared toward producing a desired effect, in which a combatant commander will select the right weapons tool from the toolbox to achieve victory in a battle zone.
