Rewards for loyalty
Article Abstract:
Royal and Sun Alliance (RSA) is an insurer set up from the merger of Sun Alliance and Royal Insurance. RSA holds a stake of nearly 16% in the United Kingdom market and is the biggest general insurer in the UK. The company is likely to see a drop in its earnings as competition affects margins and equity markets cease to perform as well, affecting the performance of RSA's portfolio. Cash could be returned to stockholders, but there is a danger that RSA could seek to expand through acquisitions, and good value acquisitions are not easy to find.
