Rust belt marketers plot Web strategies
Article Abstract:
Big industry players have realized the potentials of the Internet as a marketing medium. However, they must be warned that marketing on the Net can be a tedious, difficult and expensive process. Thus, starting a World Wide Web page would require customer surveys since the marketer has to be clear of what his objectives for Internet marketing will be. Web sites that are manufacturing-oriented can cost the marketer from $2,000 to $250,000, depending on the page's design and use. Although a simple site needs little looking after, an expensive one would require constant upgrading.

To draw more users, an online catalog should offer lower prices, more information and should be more user-friendly. For example, Boxer-Northwest Co. launched an online catalog by simply downloading free software from the Internet.
