Second European conference on space debris
Article Abstract:
The Second European Conference on Space Debris was attended by over 200 experts from 18 countries. A need to coordinate measures in debris monitoring and prevention was identified, as well as the creation of an international regulatory framework. The Inter-Agency Debris Coordination Committee (IADC) also met to discuss joint actions from a cooperative GSO observation campaign, along with data sharing on re-entry of risk objects, mitigation policies for mobile telecommunications constellations and information exchange on shielding and calibration.

The activities of ocean colour remote sensing in China
Article Abstract:
The history of ocean color remote sensing in China from 1980 to the present is reviewed. China launched its first remote sensing satellite FY-1A on Sep 7, 1988 and its second, FY-1B, on Sep 3, 1990. Both satellites featured a Very High Resolution Scanning Radiometer which involved two channels for measuring ocean color. The FY-1-02, an improved version of the two satellites, was scheduled for orbit by 1998. The future plans of China in this field are discussed as well as their individual objectives.
