Article Abstract:
The accounting community has been slow in taking advantage of the benefits of the information technology. Unlike other organizations, accounting professionals and academics are not exploiting the electronic highway to improve their public image and offer better customer service. To maximize the benefits they can gain from the information economy, accountants and academics should learn how to become knowledge workers and communicate the contributions they can make as knowledge workers.

Strength in renewal: armed with a new mission and a new vision, the CA profession embarks on a re-engineering project in governance
Article Abstract:
The chartered accountancy profession in Canada is in need of restructuring, particularly in the area of governance. To determine the survival of the profession, development and improvement in decision-making, accountability and oversight arrangements that influence the national profession are necessary. Some recommendations that are focused on restructuring the governance structures of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants have already been proposed.
