Royal Dutch/Shell is facing its worst crisis in its 100-year history, as corporate governance issues as well as poor reporting structures and accountability lie beneath the oil reserves scandal. The group is currently under investigation by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Services Authority, its equivalent Dutch authority and Euronext, all of which are expected to release their reports.
