Shrinking carrier fleet may be easier as Japan accepts nuke flattop
Article Abstract:
Japan's decision to accept a US nuclear carrier docked in its waters might facilitate the US Navy to reduce the number of carriers in the fleet. Even though Japan was not willing to accept a nuclear-powered carrier being stationed in a Japanese port, the allied nation has changed its stance and the Navy plans to send a Nimitz Class nuclear carrier to Yokosuka by 2008.
