Book buyers revealed
Article Abstract:
The 1985 Gallup Annual Report on Book Buying features 1984 data on the shopping habits, demographics, and attitudes of book buyers. Buyers who belong to a book club make up 14 percent of all book buyers, and sales made through book clubs make up seven percent of all book sales. People who belong to book clubs are generally over 25 years and live on either the East or West coasts. Hardcover sales through book clubs totalled 15 percent in 1984, while paperback sales were three percent. Women buy twice as many books through book clubs than men. Other direct mail purchase figures are included.

Mail-order family affair
Article Abstract:
The Sutton family of Seminole, Florida has a mail-order business that provides its customers with wholesale products and instructions for purchasing merchandise wholesale. Targeted at small retailers, general stores and flea market dealers, the reports published by the six member Sutton family also provide their clients with research and product information. The Suttons have published a trade magazine, The National Flea Market Dealer, and a book entitled, The Money Making Fleamarketer.
