Small firms in Scotland include Celtic, a soccer club which has undergone a financial recovery and is investing in its stadium. Clydeport is involved in real estate and port operations and reported a 47% rise in pre-tax profit to 7.8 million pounds sterling for 1997. Clyde Blowers holds a 55% stake in the global market for sootblowers, which are used for cleaning boilers. Dawson International is a knitwear producer which has been affected by the high value of pound sterling, but which has good prospects for the medium term.
