Tracking corporate fraud has long been a specialty service that certain accounting firms offered their biggest clients. According to a recent KPMG survey of 459 public U.S. companies, 75 percent reported that they had uncovered an incidence of fraud within their own organizations in 2003, up from 62% who made similar claims in a 1998 survey.
