Start spreading the news: New York is back as an incentive destination
Article Abstract:
The much-publicized revival that New York, NY, has experienced is attracting nearly 35 million visitors to the city each year who would have been afraid to visit it in 1997. The city is safer, cleaner than it has ever been in the past. Many of the visitors to New York are incentive groups. Although the city is a rather expensive destination, price- conscious groups can derive great value on a shoestring budget with a little creativity.

First Union
Article Abstract:
Banking firm First Union Corp. has adopted an incentive program that was introduced in January 1998. Winning Solutions has the primary mission of helping prevent sales decreases during the transition period for Future Bank, a program that is meant to offer various channels for First Union clients to use, as well as specialty personnel for sales and service. Organized into seven different awards to reward all segments of the sales staff, Winning Solutions is supported by a $3.5-million allocation for 1998, and offers such prizes as $10,000 cash, 1999 Jeep Wranglers, and a fantasy weekend vacation with $5,000 in spending money. The initiative has been credited for a 30% sales increase compared to 1997, as well as a 67% sales increase for sales of the top 10% of the sales staff.
