Strategy process research: focusing on corporate self-renewal
Article Abstract:
Strategy process research is a subfield of strategic management research which is concerned with the development of effective management strategies within an organization and on how these strategies are tested and implemented. This subfield differs from strategic content research in terms of focus, disciplinary bases and methodologies. Unlike strategic content research, strategy process research has a narrower focus, concentrating mostly on the different markets in which a company competes and the various ways that the firm can compete within these markets. Likewise, strategic process research requires more input from different disciplines than strategy content research. As for methodologies, strategy process research uses more intrusive research tools including questionnaire surveys and field studies. The many contributions of strategy process research to the field of strategic management are discussed.

Strategic decision models: integrating different perspectives
Article Abstract:
Different models of strategic decision making were studied; the rational normative, external control and strategic choice. Executives in the rational normative model investigate their firm's external and internal conditions. Strategic plans are then made which maximize the firm's over-all goals. The external control model implies that external conditions strongly influence strategic decisions, and the strategic choice model maintains that top management formulates and executes strategic decisions. The effects of executive characteristics on strategic decisions were examined by sending a survey to 122 top executives in the southwestern United States. Among the survey criteria examined were the executives' age, educational attainment, work experience and level.
