Support services
Article Abstract:
Support services are benefiting from a trend toward outsourcing in the United Kingdom, and there are rapidly growing areas in this sector, such as infrmation technology. There is concern that outsourcing companies could be affected by a recession, which may mean that client companies shed them first. This may not occur, since outsourcing allows companies to cut costs and save on office space. Outsourcing contracts are often long term and this helps by providing a secure stream of earnings.

Banking on a good deal
Article Abstract:
Nottingham, England, can provide a wide range of business services. The major six accounting firms are present in the city, law firms are developing, and the Bank of England plans a new office in Nottingham. Nottingham offers lower prices for legal services than have to be paid in London. Corporate finance deals reached record levels in 1996 and these deals tend to be UK acquisitions, buyouts and disposals, though cross-border deals are increasing in importance.
