Surf's up at Hawtin
Article Abstract:
Hawtin is focusing on leisure products and moving away from diversified industrials. The company's activities include sunbed distribution, the production of jacuzzis, and Gul wetsuits. The market for these products is expanding. The company has changed its distributor of sunbeds in the US which led to a profit warning in Mar 1997, in addition to start-up costs relating to sports injury centers. The share price drop has been an overreaction. The company's profit is forecast at 4.1 million pounds sterling for 1997 and 5.6 million pounds for 1998 by Wise Speke.

Taking shape
Article Abstract:
Springwood was set up after the reversal of Adam Page's leisure activities into J.O. Walker, a timber merchant. Springwood's potential for growth depends on new venues, and these are taking longer than forecast to set up, but the company is starting to take shape. Charles Stanley, house broker, has revised Springwood's profit downwards to 1.6 million pounds sterling for 1997 from 1.99 million pounds, but growth is still likely to be strong in 1997.
