United Kingdom investors seeking to invest in mainland Europe can benefit from new attitudes to external investors, and improvements in reporting, accounting and management standards. Cultural differences are more important with medium-sized companies than with larger companies that tend to use Anglo-Saxon methods. Confidentiality is important, and intermediaries are useful for companies seeking a partner. This companies can bring investors good rates of return if they can be located.

Corporate transactions in mainland Europe have become increasingly attractive for British venture capitalists as the private equity market grows rapidly. Development growth activity has been well-established in mainland Europe, and transaction activity is also taking off. The UK market has become overheated, but this is not true of mainland Europe. European rates of return are good, and European capital markets have become increasingly sophisticated.
