Testing metric equivalence in cross-national strategy research: an empirical test across the United States and Japan
Article Abstract:
A conceptual and analytical model for evaluating metric equivalence in cross-national strategy research is presented. This model is demonstrated by testing the equivalence of measurement models for a set of strategy constructs across the US and Japan. Findings from a two-group LISREL study performed on a data set of 447 interorganizational relationships showed that some constructs have strong cross-national equivalence, while others require content respecification or reconceptualization. It is suggested that researchers extend the study by improving on the measures and assessing their validity in other cultural settings such as Europe.

Investing in new information technology: the role of competitive posture and issue diagnosis
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to investigate how a company's decision to invest in new information technology may be affected by the firm's competitive posture and strategic issue diagnosis. Data gathered from approximately 300 tax-return preparation firms that were faced with the decision to adopt electronic filing were examined using the path analysis method. Findings revealed that the decision to adopt new information technology was directly influenced by strategic issue diagnosis, while being both directly and indirectly affected by competitive postures as they impact managers' strategic issue interpretation.
