The program, also known as 'P-Stamps,' was officially launched in fall 1999 following a successful trial at the Autralia 99 World Stamp Expo. The Australia Post program, which uses the Polly Woolside 45-cent stamp, was enthusiastically received by both stamp collectors and the general public.
