A forecast of Philippine economic conditions is presented. The Philippines has adopted stable economic and political policies under President Fidel Ramos. The Philippines saw its GDP increase by 5.0% in the 1st qtr, 1997, down slightly from 5.1% from the same period of 1996. Manufacturing now accounts for approximately 25% of the GNP; GNP growth registered 6.1% in the 1st qtr, 1997, down from 6.9% from the same period of 1996.
