Schools take lessons in management
Article Abstract:
The Education Reform Act of 1988 is re-organizing state-maintained schools by delegating their financial management and operational control to the local level. The local schools are expected to managed as independent units by governors, teachers, and administrative staff, who are now responsible for setting up school plans, budgeting, forecasting cashflow, administrating cost control measures, and carrying out the accounting and reporting functions previously performed by local education authorities.
