The determinants of positive long-term performance in strategic mergers: corporate focus and cash

Article Abstract:

The merger-related changes in corporate focus are examined by using a sample selection criteria and benchmarking method. Results reveal that the primary determinant of long-run performance in strategic mergers is the merger-related degree of change in corporate focus.
