The effects of basic training on aerobic fitness and muscular strength and endurance of British Army recruits
Article Abstract:
The intensity and nature of the basic three month long British Army training for Adult Artillery Recruits enhances their aerobic fitness, but is ineffective in enhancing their muscular strength and endurance. The basic training Junior Infantry Soldier Recruits that extends over a five month period increases the muscular strength of recruits, but results in a decreased aerobic fitness. The basic training of over 11 months for Junior Infantry Leader Recruits increases aerobic fitness, body weight and muscular strength.
