Best of both worlds
Article Abstract:
Returns from United Kingdom ethical investment funds have tended to be lower than returns for UK funds as a whole, though some ethical funds have performed very well. Ethical funds may focus on smaller firms which have tended not to perform well, and they may also exclude strongly performing sectors such as pharmaceuticals. Support for smaller firms may be seen as an ethical issue. Ethical funds are available in the form of index trackers, though there are criticisms of such an approach from those who see active management as important for ethical funds.
