Offshore options
Article Abstract:
Offshore asset protection trusts enable wealthy individuals and companies to protect some of their assets from creditors and heirs. They must be set up without wilful intent to defraud and sufficient funds must remain available to cover any likely claims. One or more trustees, who may include the person setting it up, must be appointed. Once the fund has been established, it can be controlled by the trustee who can specify who should benefit and how payments should be made. Trusts are immune from attacking creditors after a set period of time but before this time, many creditors are discouraged by the difficulties in dealing with a foreign legal system.
