Earth observations in Europe - growth and prospects
Article Abstract:
The markets for earth observation or remote sensing services were analyzed. Statistics for the remote sensing markets are still vague because remote sensing services comprise only a portion of the total business of space telecommunications firms. A survey of 28 European Earth-observation satellite services indicated that their sales came from imaging, hardware and systems and data processing and interpretation services. It was suggested that the obstacles which hamper the development of Earth-observation systems be studied.

Priorities for global ecology now and in the next century
Article Abstract:
A discussion of priorities for global ecological protection is presented. The two most important factors in global ecology are the earth's heat budget and biosphere dynamics. The future of the earth's ecology is dependent on how human activities affect biosphere dynamics. The objectives of the US National Change Program for the protection of the biosphere was examined. It was suggested that additional studies of global ecological priorities are advisable with the cooperation of the UN.
