The power of empowerment teams
Article Abstract:
A cross-functional team at Motorola Inc.'s Government and Systems Technology Group successfully developed and implemented improvements for their project. In the team building process, project leaders were first selected to oversee the empowerment of work teams followed by the initiation of team building efforts such as regular meetings between leaders and members. Improvements developed by the team include replacing batch circuit board construction with linear building, and improving test cycle time.
