The convergence between the U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the European UnionEs International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) seems essentially out of reach at the moment. The two issues that threaten this convergence are, accounting treatment of derivatives and stock option expensing.
