Three days of sensory overload
Article Abstract:
The Siggraph conference saw how accessible computer graphics had become from the 1980s onward, although there were few startling technological changes. High-definition television technology, advanced animation and rendering software and 3-D interactive virtual reality displays were the most popular. 'Morphing' and interactive communication via the computer were important trends at the show. Virtual reality displays, although popular as entertainment, were found to be a little unsophisticated, but this factor proved unimportant when demonstrating the usefulness of virtual reality in design.

Convention center breaks convention
Article Abstract:
The Greater Columbus Convention Center in Ohio was designed for practicality and fancy esthetics. It is the first convention center in the US that was built entirely to meet the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act. However, it was also concieved to be highly visible when passing by at high speed whether from the highway or from the air. It was designed by architect Peter Eisenman who firmly believes that convention centers and performance arenas are the great public buildings of the 20th century.
