Tomorrow's factory requires a new kind of treasurer
Article Abstract:
The wide range of domestic and international competitors and the rapid rate of change in manufacturing technology today are two issues manufacturing companies need to address in order to retain their competitive edge. Treasury managers who take an integrated financial view and who seek new roles within the corporation are needed in order to face these competitive and technological challenges. New roles for the treasury manager include: an understanding of how new technology can improve investments and decision making, the spear heading of a top-down viewpoint in decision making, finding financing for modernization, becoming responsible for scheduling strategic projects and working in close conjunction with top management, and evaluating results.
